A Conversation with Queeroes Muralists Juan Manuel Carmona & Simón Malvae

A Pride month artist talk, featuring artists Juan Manuel Carmona and Simón Malvaez, the creators of Queeroes mural.

In celebration of Pride Month and the triumphant run of our Queeroes mural, please join us in the Rainbow Room at the SF LGBT Center for “A Conversation With Queeroes.” This riveting discussion features artists Juan Manuel Carmona and Simón Malvaez, the creators of Queeroes mural in partnership with the SF LGBT Center. The Queeroes mural took our community by storm over the last year, reaching many hearts with its message of love and the importance of uplifting LGBTQ+ history. The mural transformed the Progress Pride Flag colors into a vibrant collection of local and global LGBTQ+ community leaders who’ve shaped our history like Harvey Milk, Juanita MORE!, Sister Roma, Honey Mahogany, Chavela Vargas, and more.

The evening will include a panel conversation where attendees will hear from Juan Manuel and Simon on the making of Queeroes, their journey as Latino and Queer artists navigating the San Francisco art scene, and what’s ahead.

Please help us thank Juan Manuel and Simón for their incredible contributions to the Center and to celebrate Queeroes in person together before the next mural goes up! Light refreshments will be served and attendees will have an opportunity to purchase exclusively designed “Queeroes” merch.
