Hangry Bishop Presents: CHI-Compression

One Saturday night not long ago, the Duchess of Cheddar was lost in thought and driving down a dark highway, headed to Dirtybird Campout. Slowly she realized that it was the first festival she'd be going to since Burning Man 2019, before the *ronaverse flipped life upside down....and due to a whole "job" situation... she hadn't been to playa even *once* this year...

With a heavy sigh, the Duchess realized she hadn't been to a Single Gathering with her treasured Burner Family. All. Year. Long.

With a rare weekend off work in early November, at the same time we typically dust off our playa coats to explore a burner block party in the streets of San Francisco, CHI-Compression was born! Hangry Bishop provides the cheese and hospitality….and YOU bring the rest!

2020 knocked us off our feet, and in 2021 we work to find balance. While there's no TTITD to decompress from, art and community is needed now, more than ever!

CHI-Compression on Sunday Nov 7 at 3 pm - 10 pm

Join Hangry Bishop and your burner family for a daytime-into-night celebration on Ocean Beach. The best medieval diner on playa will be premiering an amazing new PIZZA OVEN with a choice of 3-cheese WHITE PIE or marinara-and-mozz RED PIE …. plus a handful of delicious toppings.

To make this a true burner blow out event, we need your participation, too! From fire toys to floggers, cute swag to MOOP bag..... bring out your burner best to share. We are seeking other camps, artists and individuals to bring their A game and help to create a special day for all. There will be food, there will be fire, there will be....... anything else that YOU want to bring!!!!

Hangry Bishop will be launching it's fundraiser (to help with storage costs in 2022) at this event, and encourages other camps or art projects to participate in a similar way! Bring your best, share your gifts, and seek support from your community

FAQ

Isn’t this kinda last minute?

YES! The idea was born very recently and this event page up just over a week before the party. We HOPE you can make it out but ofc understand if you have prior engagements! When deciding to make this event dream a wonderful reality, we reminded ourselves of the principle of IMMEDIACY. We’re excited to see what comes together in the short time before this event!

How can I get involved?

RSVPs are appreciated but not required…. If you want to show up on the day of, with an amazing art project…. More power to ya! PLEASE SHARE THE EVENT with any friends who might be interested.

To coordinate plans with the hostess, send an email to hangrybishop@gmail.com with details about what you’d like to bring and any questions or concerns you have. If you’re an individual, wear a costume or some fur, bring swag to share, flow toys and whatever else belongs at your personal party.

Can I set up my theme camp or art project?

*Especially* hoping that a camp or individual will bring an awesome sound system and some dj action, but in a pinch the Duchess has you covered with some decent portable speakers. There may be karaoke 

 If you have seating, climbable, or LED art, consider bringing it! We have one afternoon to make a party that embodies two years of missed playa fun.

What should I bring?

Essentials: water, snacks, layers of warmth, headlamps and fairy lights for the evening, a garbage bag to collect personal trash, your best burner crew

Nice to haves: wood for a bonfire, alcohol in a concealed plastic container, flow toys, blankets, swag

How do I find you on the beach?

Point yourself towards the Beach Chalet Brewery and Restaurant… once there, face yourself to the Ocean and cross the highway. If you park in the lot make sure to read the signs! If you are arriving in a Lyft, Beach Chalet is a good address to be dropped off at. Once on the beach, you’ll see a pop-up with some cheesy fabric and decor, and that’s how you spot Hangry Bishop.
